Hi everyone, man, its been a horrific saturday in the world of ffxi and let me tell you why.
Today, CL went to fight Kirin, we were supposed to go twice but because of a very bad stonegaIV and the fact that Sugy's LS was waiting for us to finish so we only did it once. It was a fantastic drop. Both the pole and osode, shining cloth, wrymic legs and dryadic body. Fullting was online and since he had priority for the legs, he won the lot. Argh, everytime this happens i'm reminded of how my stupidity caused me to get sand instead of gold, figuratively speaking of course.
That really made us down but the worse was the darn Ulguerand range map quest. It involves trasversing 3 zones of True sight monsters and sneaking pass the HNM Jorganmund to a sheer cliff face. After dropping from the cliff face to a hole, you're supposed to drop into a hole on the cliff. You do this by free-falling off the cliff. Failure means you start again. Today, we managed to get to the 2nd hole THREE times. Each time we dropped off we landed in the wrong position. It is impossible to judge exactly where to drop. To drop to the 2nd hole, very efficient camera angling can bring you in, however, from the 2nd hole, there's NO WAY to judge where to land. As a result, we've failed 3 times. The risk involved is mind-numbingly great and has caused Ariel and me no amount of mental stress.
I think Ariel is very upset with me over this matter. Believe me dear, i'm as bummed out as you are. Don't worry, we'll try again next time. We'll be able to do it then. Its just a matter of time. Like all things in FFXI, we solve them by sheer perseverance. What others achieve with pure luck, we do it with sweat, blood and tears. It sucks so bad it almost makes me bitter. So many events that if... for a moment were to shift ever so slightly would cause the game to be so much more enjoyable. Yet, we're always in the loser state, sigh, dear. Feel so empty and morale is totally drained. Goodness, is this really what we want from a game?
